Ever wondered what it’s like to design for us? Here’s a breakdown to help you get a better idea of what this festival looks like!

Before the 48 hours officially start, you’ll come to the theater Friday night for a party! There’s bingo to get to know everyone, then we go over some agenda items (like important people’s contact info) for the festival, and do a meet and greet!

 Tech will show up at the theater in the morning around 7:50 AM. Make sure you have all your stuff for the day, especially a packed lunch and a water bottle!

Once you get there, you’ll meet with your fellow techies and watch as the Directors pull their shows! You’ll then read through the scripts together and assess needs.

Around 8:30, once the actors get here, take a seat in the theater and watch the actors get randomly assigned to each play. After Opening Remarks concludes, you’re off to work! Confer with the rest of the tech team and start create the lighting and sound design for each of the freshly-written shows.

Around 12:00 is LUNCH (yum)!

At around 2:30, the Tech Team, Directors, Producer, and Stage Manager will have a meeting to prepare for tech, clarifying their needs, cues, and edits to the script. Then the tech runs begin!! You and your fellow techies will run through each script on stage, performing and practicing every light and sound cue you’ve creatively crafted. This will be your only run before the 7:30 show so work hard!

Straight after teach you’ll head to provided dinner around 5:30. Eat Eat EATT!!!

At 6:00 everyone will gather in the theatre for a quick meeting/peptalk. You’ll have time after the meeting and before the first show to make any edits or finalizations.

At 7:30, the first show begins! With the guidance of the stage manager, the tech team flawlessly runs lighting and sound, further bringing each brand new play to life.

At 10:00, the second show begins! You’ll do it all again, just as perfect as you did the first time : )

After the second show, collect your Wall of Love notes and go home!

If you’re doing a second day, the next morning you’ll come back and do it all again!
